Hello, I'm Kate, an Elopement, Wedding & Portrait photographer living in the beautiful Wānaka, Aotearoa New Zealand.
I grew up in the small town of Ohakune of the North Island, or as some kiwis better know it as Mt. Ruapehu or 'the carrot town' (yes, there's a giant carrot that resides there). Being a small ski town, the natural progression for me was to make my way to the South Island, initially following the snow and my love of the outdoors.
This is where I first dipped my toes into the world of photography. Being surrounded by some of the countries most majestic scenery, it was hard to not to want to pick up a camera all the time. My fascination with creating photos of a unique perspective of our mountains, nature and people through a lens grew. The camera, naturally, toured around with me on all adventures. Taking advantage of any unwilling subject I could (thanks fam), and turning any hike that would normally take 2 hours into 3.
Hailing from a creative background of hairdressing & being surrounded by the fashion industry, it made sense for me to pivot and study a Diploma in Photography, which helped shift my creative focus to a new medium professionally. It truely established my passion for photography, and confirmed I was always meant to follow my heart doing something I love - being involved the arts of life.

Outside of work life, you can usually find me buzzing around in the fresh air, getting amongst some mountain biking; hiking to one of the huts I've yet to check off the bucket list, or in winter heading up the hill to get some turns in on the skis. I'm particularly partial to a tasty beverage on the lake side over summer, accompanied by some good company, snacks, a swim & of course my numero uno Frank the dog (the bestest boy).
I love a good change of scenery every now and then, to spark the creative juices; usually a wee dose of city life to see live music and get my foodie/fashion fix. Flying abroad is something I do frequently, and love trading travel stories.

I adore bringing to life couples stories through dreamy settings, surrounded by good people & and that solid dose of romance that comes in tow of these once in a lifetime celebrations.
Working with people against our vast and rugged landscapes, which highlight the true beauty of our unique Otago region, really is something special for me. After countless elopements & weddings, I have developed an eye for detail when it comes to noticing beautiful light, movement & emotion.
My goal is to create an abundance of tangible memories and an experience that aligns with your values and vision for the day. Once it's all done and dusted, you'll be looking through images that you not only love, but you had a wicked time taking too. I'm of a down to earth nature, keeping the vibe relaxed & fun, but also know how to wrangle a bridal party or get a dance floor started where needed.
My style blurs the lines between timeless yet modern imagery, documenting your day with intention. Film photography has a big influence in the way I shoot and edit, I love the charismatic aesthetics film can breathe into a photo. I love every chance I can get to shoot analog these days.
